Paragliding in Medellín is one of the most popular adventure experiences in the city
Guanabana runs private tandem paragliding tours with certified pilots. Flights launch from Cocorná, a town in eastern Antioquia about 1h 20min from Medellín, where mountain thermals and weather conditions are reliable for safe flying. We’ve been operating paragliding tours in the Medellín region since 2015.
Paragliding pairs well with other activities in the same area, so we run it as part of full-day private adventures combined with Guatapé, ATV, canyoning, or white water rafting. Pricing starts at $175 per person.
How Paragliding Works
All flights are tandem with a certified pilot. No experience required, no age limit.
Before takeoff, your pilot explains four things:
- How to sit in the harness once airborne
- How takeoff works (a few running steps on command)
- How to hold the GoPro for the best shots
- How to land (feet up, soft landing)
The flight lasts about 15 minutes from takeoff to landing. You rise on thermal currents over the mountains and canyons of eastern Antioquia.

Who Can Fly
- Weight limit: 105 kg / 230 lbs maximum. This is a strict safety requirement — no exceptions.
- Age: no age restrictions. Children fly tandem with certified pilots.
- Footwear: closed sporty shoes required. No high heels or flip-flops. This is a dealbreaker.
- Clothing: a light sweater, jacket, or windbreaker is recommended. It’s cooler at altitude.
- Also bring: sunscreen and bug spray.
GoPro Video, Guaranteed
Every flight is filmed with a GoPro. After your flight, before we leave Cocorná, we check the SD card to confirm the recording. If the video didn’t come out for any technical reason, we take you up again, free.
Most paragliding operators don’t do this. The video is the main thing you keep from the experience, so we make sure it works.
Weather Policy
Paragliding depends on wind conditions. If weather makes it unsafe to fly on your scheduled day, we issue a full refund. We don’t push flights in marginal conditions.
Why Choose Guanabana for Paragliding in Medellín
Guanabana was founded in 2015 by two Colombian paragliding champions. One is a former #1 ranked national pilot and Colombian national team leader. The other is a three-time national champion. Both started flying in 1994.
Most Medellín tour operators that offer paragliding don’t fly themselves. They subcontract flights to whichever pilot is available. We’re the operator, and the standards we set for pilot selection, equipment, and weather cutoffs come from years of competition flying.
