Your 5-Day Colombia Itinerary
Day 1: Pereira → Salento & Cocora Valley
You’ll be picked up directly at Pereira Airport. One hour later, you arrive in Salento — a colorful coffee town surrounded by emerald hills.
After exploring the cobblestone streets, you continue into the Cócora Valley, walking among the tallest palm trees on Earth. The air is fresh. The valley is quiet. The views are unforgettable.
Overnight in Salento.
Day 2: Salento → Los Nevados National Park → Manizales
Today takes you high into the Andes.
With your guide, you explore Los Nevados National Park, a dramatic volcanic landscape rising toward 4,500 meters (14,760 ft). Expect open horizons, glacial valleys, and wildlife sightings depending on the season.
You do not hike to the snow line — this is a scenic and guided experience.
Overnight in Manizales.
Day 3: Manizales → Jericó → Jardín
This is the day Colombia becomes personal. Early morning three hour drive from Manizales to the traditional town of Jericó, birthplace of Colombia’s first saint, Santa Madre Laura de Jesús.
In Jericó, you experience authentic life in a traditional Colombian mountain town. The views from the town’s edge perched up high on a massive vertical wall overlooking the quilted river valley bellow is breathtaking. Visit the cathedral, explore artisan shops, and enjoy lunch locally.
Then continue with a two hour drive into Jardín — one of Colombia’s most beautiful heritage towns. The pace slows. The scenery softens. You’ll see why travelers never forget this place.
Overnight in Jardín.
Day 4: Jardín → Medellín
Your morning is optional and customizable:
-
Horseback riding in the countryside
-
Short trekking routes
-
Coffee farm visit
Afterward, you head to Medellín, to Colombia’s most redesigned city, 2.5 hour drive.
Explore historic plazas, cable cars, street culture, or the café scene in Provenza (El Poblado). You choose what pace fits your travel style.
Overnight in Medellín.
Day 5: Medellín → Guatapé & El Peñol Rock → Airport or Hotel Drop-off
Your final day is full color and wide skies with a 1 hour 45-minute drive from Medellín to the world famous town of Guatapé.
In Guatapé, climb El Peñol Rock if you wish for panoramic views across hundreds of islands scattered across the reservoir. Walk village streets painted in bold relief art. Enjoy lunch lakeside.
Optional experiences with Guatapé:
-
Speedboat ride
-
Jet ski
-
Wakeboard
- Paragliding
- Canyoning
We’ll then drop you at your Medellín hotel or directly at the airport.

About The Weather in Colombia
In Colombia we don’t have seasons such as winter, fall, summer, and spring because we’re too close to the equator. But what we do have is rainy seasons and dry seasons, two of each, taking turns during the year, so basically half of the year the forecast will say rain every day … but don’t let this fool you! Read our blog post Don’t Believe The Weather Forecast in Colombia for a better understanding.
And don’t forget all our other cool stuff!
